Keratin Smoothing Treatment At Hotscope Hair Salon
Smoothing And Frizz Control

Keratin Treatment At Hotscope

Built for hair that loses every argument with Gulf Coast humidity. A keratin treatment seals the cuticle so frizz stops lifting, shine comes back, and your blow dry takes a fraction of the time it does now. It lasts up to around three months and fades out softly.

What It Actually Does

Smoothing, Not Straightening

A keratin treatment coats and seals the hair cuticle. Frizz happens when the cuticle lifts and moisture rushes in, which is exactly what humidity does all summer here. Seal it down and the hair stays where you put it.

What It Does

  • Cuts frizz and flyaways, especially in humidity
  • Takes a large chunk of time off your blow dry
  • Adds shine and makes hair feel softer
  • Loosens curl and makes styling far easier

What It Will Not Do

  • Make curly hair permanently poker straight
  • Repair damage that is already broken
  • Change your color or lighten your hair
  • Last forever, it fades over about three months

The Rules That Make Or Break It

The treatment is still settling for the first few days. A crease set now can stay for weeks, so these are the rules your stylist will send you home with.

  1. Leave It Down

No ponytails, buns or braids. Hair stays loose and flat.

  2. No Clips Or Bands

Clips, pins, hair ties and headbands all leave marks.

  3. Do Not Wash It

Keep it dry and unwashed for the full window your stylist gives you.

  4. No Tucking

Behind the ears, under a collar or pushed back with sunglasses all crease it.

  5. Sleep Flat

Straight and loose on the pillow, ideally on silk or satin.

Your stylist gives you the exact window for the product used on your hair. Follow theirs rather than anything you read online, including this page.

What To Expect

Your Three Months

A keratin treatment does not stop working overnight. It fades gradually, which is why there is never a hard line or a regrowth point to chase.

  1. Days 1 To 3

    Settling

Hair stays down, dry and untouched while the treatment sets into the cuticle.

  2. Weeks 1 To 4

    Peak Smooth

The easiest your hair will be. Blow dries are quick and frizz stays flat even on humid days.

  3. Weeks 5 To 9

    Still Easy

Some texture returns gradually, but styling is still far faster than it was before.

  4. Weeks 10 To 12

    Time To Rebook

Frizz starts winning again. Most clients book their next treatment around here.

In The Chair

How The Appointment Runs

About two hours from start to finish, and you leave with the result already visible.

  1. Step 01

    Consultation

Your hair type, condition, color history and goals, then the plan and the exact price before anything is applied.

  2. Step 02

    Clarify And Prep

Hair is washed with a clarifying shampoo to strip buildup, because product residue stops the treatment bonding evenly.

  3. Step 03

    Apply And Process

The treatment is applied section by section, combed through and left to process for the time the formula needs.

  4. Step 04

    Blow Dry And Seal

Dried and sealed with heat to lock it in, then you leave with the full aftercare window explained.

Know The Difference

Keratin Or A Relaxer?

These two get confused constantly, and they are not the same service. Hotscope offers keratin smoothing.

Keratin Smoothing

  • Temporary. Fades over about three months.
  • Smooths. Reduces frizz and loosens curl without removing it.
  • Grows out softly. No line where treated hair meets new growth.
  • Reversible by time. If you do not love it, it simply wears off.

This is the treatment offered at Hotscope.

Chemical Relaxer

  • Permanent. Alters the hair structure for good.
  • Straightens. Removes curl rather than softening it.
  • Visible regrowth. A clear line appears as new hair grows.
  • Not reversible. Only cutting removes treated hair.

Good To Know

Keratin Treatment Questions

How Much Is A Keratin Treatment At Hotscope?

Keratin treatments start from $199 and take about 2 hours. Length and thickness are the main things that change the final figure, and your stylist confirms it at the consultation before starting.

How Long Does A Keratin Treatment Last?

Up to around three months for most clients. How often you wash, what shampoo you use and how much heat you apply all affect how gradually it wears off. It fades out softly rather than leaving a line.

Will It Make My Hair Completely Straight?

No, and that is the point. A keratin treatment smooths the cuticle, cuts frizz and takes a large chunk of time off your blow dry. Your natural texture is softened, not removed, so waves and curls still exist, they are just calmer and far easier to style.

What Can I Do In The First Few Days?

Follow the exact instructions your stylist gives you, which usually means leaving hair down, loose and unwashed for around 72 hours. No ponytails, clips, sunglasses on your head or tucking behind your ears, because a crease set in those first days can stay.

Is A Keratin Treatment Safe?

Formulas vary a lot between brands, so ask which product the salon uses and what is in it when you book. Your stylist will talk it through with you. Mention it at booking if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have asthma or a respiratory condition.

Can I Color My Hair As Well?

Yes, and the order matters. Color is usually done before a keratin treatment rather than after. Tell your stylist your color plans at the consultation so the two can be timed properly for your hair.

Does It Work On Curly Hair?

Yes. It loosens the curl pattern, reduces frizz and makes styling much faster. If you would rather keep your curl definition and just add moisture, ask about curly hair care instead.

What Shampoo Should I Use Afterwards?

A sulfate free and salt free shampoo helps the treatment last. Sulfates and sodium chloride strip it out faster, which is why the drugstore bottle you already own often shortens the result.
