Products And Routine Consultation

Hair Routines At Hotscope

Most people do not have a product problem. They have an order problem, a quantity problem or a frequency problem. Twenty minutes with a stylist sorts out what your hair actually needs, in what order and how often, and you leave with it written down.

The Deliverable

What You Actually Take Home

Not a lecture and not a receipt. A short, realistic plan built around your hair, your water, your styling habits and the time you genuinely have in the morning.

  • Your Hotscope RoutineExample
  • Wash DaysTwo or three times a week, shampoo at the scalp onlyTwice if your roots get oily, once if your ends are dry
  • ConditionerMid lengths and ends, every wash, left on while you finish showeringNever at the roots if your hair goes flat
  • Leave InOn soaking wet hair, before anything elseThis is the step most people skip or do last
  • WeeklyOne treatment, matched to whether you need moisture or repairNot both in the same wash
  • Heat StylingProtectant every time, and a lower setting than you thinkTwice a week maximum on colored hair
  • In The SalonTreatment every 4 to 6 weeks, cut every 8 to 12Booked before you leave so it actually happens
  • This is an example, not your routine. Yours is written for your hair type, porosity, color history and the honest amount of time you will spend on it.

The single most common fix we give costs nothing: change the order. Leave in before oil. Conditioner on ends, not roots. Protectant before heat, not after washing.

The second most common fix is doing less. Many shelves hold two products fighting each other, which is why hair feels coated and thirsty at the same time.

If your hair needs a treatment to go with the routine, your stylist will say which one and why, and you can book it or not. See all haircare services.

The Twenty Minutes

How It Goes

  1. We Look

Your stylist checks porosity, elasticity, buildup and how your hair behaves both wet and dry. Two minutes of looking beats twenty minutes of describing.

    About 5 Minutes
  2. We Ask

What you use now, how often you wash, how you dry it, what you have colored or treated, and what annoys you most. Honest answers, not aspirational ones.

    About 8 Minutes
  3. We Write It Down

A short routine you can follow on a Tuesday morning, with what to keep, what to stop and when to come back. Written, not remembered.

Bring These Three Things

None of them cost anything, and together they make the twenty minutes worth double.

  • Photos Of Your ShelfSnap the bottles in your bathroom. Names and ingredients tell your stylist more than "the purple one".
  • Your Real RoutineWhat you actually do on a rushed Monday, not the routine you follow on a good Sunday. We are planning for real life.
  • Your Biggest FrustrationFrizz, flatness, dryness, breakage, product buildup. One clear problem gives the routine something to solve.
The Framework

How Often To Do What

Every routine we write sits on this frame. Only the details change from person to person.

Every Wash

The Basics

  • Shampoo at the scalp, not the ends
  • Conditioner mid lengths down
  • Cooler final rinse
  • Leave in on soaking wet hair
Between Washes

Keeping It

  • Dry shampoo at the roots only
  • Silk or satin at night
  • Loose ties, never the same spot
  • Hands off, especially with curls
Weekly

The Treatment

  • One mask, moisture or repair
  • Purple shampoo if you are blonde
  • Clarify occasionally for buildup
  • Never two treatments in one wash
In The Salon

The Maintenance

  • Treatment every 4 to 6 weeks
  • Toner every 6 to 8 weeks if colored
  • Haircut every 8 to 12 weeks
  • Rebook before you leave
Our Promise

What We Will Not Do

  • Sell You A Shelf

No twelve step routine, no matching set you do not need. If four things work, we will tell you four things work.

  • Make You Feel Bad

Nobody gets judged for box dye, cheap shampoo or skipping heat protectant. We start from where your hair is now.

  • Pretend Products Fix Everything

Some problems need a treatment, a cut or simply less heat. You will hear that honestly instead of being sold a bottle.

Commonly Seen

Five Routine Mistakes

  • Oil Before Water

Sealing an already dry strand locks the dryness in. Hydrate first, seal second.

  • Conditioner At The Roots

Flattens fine hair and does nothing for the ends that actually need it.

  • Protein Every Wash

Too much protein makes hair stiff and brittle, which gets mistaken for more damage.

  • Product On Damp Hair

Most leave ins and gels are designed for soaking wet hair. Damp is already too late.

  • Switching Every Month

Nothing gets a fair trial. Give a routine six weeks before deciding it failed.

Good To Know

Hair Routine Questions

Is The Hair Routine Consultation Really Free?

Yes. It takes about 20 minutes, costs nothing and carries no obligation. You can book it on its own or add it to an appointment you already have.

Do I Have To Buy Anything?

No. You leave with a routine, not a shopping list. If something specific would genuinely help your hair, your stylist will say what it needs to do and why, and the decision stays entirely yours.

What Should I Bring?

Photos of the bottles on your shelf, an honest description of what you actually do rather than what you mean to do, and the one thing about your hair that frustrates you most.

Will You Tell Me To Throw Everything Away?

Very rarely. Most shelves have three or four things doing the right job in the wrong order. Fixing the order usually costs nothing and changes more than buying something new.

Can I Book It With Another Appointment?

Yes, and it is the easiest way to do it. Twenty minutes fits neatly alongside a cut, a color or a treatment, and your stylist already has your hair in front of them.

How Soon Will I See A Difference?

Hair usually feels different within two or three wash days. Real change shows over about six weeks, because a routine is a set of habits rather than a single appointment.

Can You Help With Scalp Problems?

We can advise on dryness, buildup and product choices. Persistent itching, flaking, soreness or hair loss should be seen by a doctor or dermatologist, and we will say so rather than guess.

Does It Work For Curly, Colored Or Damaged Hair?

Especially so. Those are the hair types where routine order matters most, and where the wrong product does the most harm. Your stylist builds the routine around what your hair has been through.
